Happy 2nd Birthday, Beautiful Girl!

My darling Avery,

It kills me that this post will be marked "July 18th" by the time I hit "publish." I haven't gotten the chance to sit and write until this moment.

Happy 2nd Birthday, my sweet baby. I miss you. Everyday.

A lot has happened since your 1st birthday. Your little sister Mia was born on October 29th, 2013. She is beautiful, and such a delight. When she was really little, she would make faces that looked just like made my heart so happy. How I wish you were here so she could meet and experience you. I tell her about you all of the time.

Emily and Olivia talk about you all of the time as well. I truly don't think a day goes by that they don't share a memory of you, or draw a family picture with both you and Allie in it, or ask questions about you. They miss you so much. They watched your video with daddy a couple months ago, and the grief of losing you came over them once again...

Avery, you still continue to change lives. I had the opportunity to share your story at the women's worship night at church in January. The evening was titled "Lovely." I was able to tell others about how God had changed my perspective and taught me about His love through you. We are all lovely simply because we are His. You are so lovely Avery, because you are His, and because, for a moment, you were mine.

Daddy just got back into town, so we are going to celebrate you as a little family on Saturday. But today, July 17th, was your day, my sweet girl. So many people called or messaged me that they were thinking about you today. My lovely Avery, you are so very loved by so many.

Daddy and I love you so much, Avery. We thank God that He chose us to be your mommy and daddy. We wish we could hold you and hug you and kiss you. We trust that we will again, someday.

All my love,

  1. 7-23-14: My "Baby Girl", Jessica. Two years ago, there would have been nothing I wouldn't do to spare you what you were going through. This remains true today. My heart breaks knowing yours hurts so much. I am so proud of the woman you are and the mommy you are. Also so proud of Chad and the girls. Avery, and Allie, will always be in our family, we are grateful for that. Thank you for giving us little Avery Joy. We do miss her, but have faith she will tell us some pretty cool stuff when we meet again, I truly believe that. From Nana and Papa and the Uncles, we honor and love you Avery. And, all of you.
